Butterflies are valuable contributors to Our Environment and each year more than two million acres of habitat are lost, resulting in diminishing populations.  Skylyfeadk believes big or small, we all can do something to help.  Our Little Lepidopterist Class offers children an opportunity to learn fun facts about the Monarch Butterfly, the life stages and experience a hands on discovery of the caterpillar/larvae stage, visually experience the process of metamorphosis with their own personal Chrysalis, Helping by releasing a healthy Monarch and planting Milkweed.

Class Outline

  • Fun Facts about Monarchs
  • Stages of Development (Live caterpillars and chrysalises will be on site)
  • What Butterflies do for Humans
  • Question and Answer
  • Interaction with Live caterpillars (demonstration on how caterpillars respond to sound

Duration of Class:  1 Hour

Ages:  5 and up.  Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult

Children will Receive

  • Little Lepidopterist Certificate
  • Monarch Life cycle coloring sheet
  • Small packet of Milk Weed Seeds
  • Live Chrysalis w/care instructions
